Gavieze Manor
The name of Gavieze (Gaveyssen or Geneisen) was first mentioned in the agreement of April 4, 1253 on the division of the Piemare land, concluded by the Bishop of Courland, Heinrich von Litzelburg, and the Master of the Livonian Order.
The settlement was formed around the center of Gavieze Manor (Gut Gaweesen). In the revolution of 1905, the manor building was burned down.
In 1936, the manor building was renovated and a school was built in it. It existed as a school until 2019, when the schools in the districts were reorganized. Since then, the building has been empty and unused.
A cultural house has been established in the former granary of the manor. Many sources indicate that it is in the stable of the manor, but this is erroneous information, which is refuted by the information and photos researched by Alma Kāle, the creator of the Gavieze antiquities repository.
The manor park is 3.6 hectares wide with 16 exotic species of trees and shrubs with an established walking path. The park for walking is especially beautiful at the beginning of May, when the white, yellow and blue bellflowers bloom.
